After some thought the decision was made to leave the university to enter the entertainment industry. Her first appearance was in the movie Children of the Corn V : Fields of Terror, but she wasn't thrilled with the way it turned out. To improve her acting skills, she trained very hard and appeared in numerous low-budget films to showcase her talents. Although it was not an easier path, the actor's sheer determination and tenacity were well-rewarded. In the movie Training Day she gained fame and was praised by critics. This was when her acting career took off.
